FPSO KIKEH, Malaysia
About the Project
The FPSO Kikeh is currently located 120km northwest of the island of Labuan, offshore Sabah, East Malaysia in water depths of around 1,300m.
The FPSO is operated by Murphy Sabah Oil Company on behalf of Partner Petronas Carigali. Locker Heatshielding were commissioned by Single Buoy Moorings Inc. in 2007 to provide radiant Heatshields for the external turret area of the FPSO.
At the time of construction the vessel had the largest external turret to date and was the first Malaysian FPSO in the SBM fleet.
Single Skin Ladder type Heatshields were installed on the front face of the FPSO turret area facing towards the flare boom as well as around the crown block area including the roof area.
The Heatshields are used to protect both personnel and key equipment from the effects of radiant heat from the flaring of excess hydrocarbons. The Single Skin Ladder Heatshields were used in this location for their excellent radiant heat reduction capabilities, along with the inherent strength, visibility and ventilation they provide along with the ability to span large distances.
