Montrose Stair Tower Protection, UK North Sea
About the Project
The Montrose platform is approx. 217km east of Aberdeen in the Montrose field discovered in 1969 by Amoco.
As part of the Montrose Area Redevelopment Project (MAR) an additional bridge linked platform was installed alongside the existing Montrose Platform.
A major upgrade of the existing platform was also undertaken, including replacement of the south east accommodation block stair tower.

Deliverables
Three Sides of the Talisman Montrose Platform south stair tower were protected using Locker Extra Span shields.
The shields were designed to fit to existing customer steelwork and were shaped to fit around the protruding beams as shown above.
The Extra Span shields were bolted directly onto the universal beams with panels bolted directly through the front face of the beam as well as using brackets developed by Locker.
The Locker Extra Span shield provides very good visibility and ventilation through the shield whilst also providing excellent protection against Radiant Heat. The Extra Span shields were designed to fit around and behind the existing doorways to provide maximum protection at all times.
