Fabric Wind Shielding

Galebreaker Offshore Fabric Wind Shielding

Our product portfolio features the Galebreaker offshore range of lightweight tensioned fabric Wind shields. This collaboration will expand the range of wind shielding products specifically designed for the oil and gas sectors.

Galebreaker Industrial is a UK based company specialising in fabric technology with 30 years’ experience developing and manufacturing heat and windshield products across a broad range of industries.

Their range of fabric Wind Shields are independently tested by UKAS laboratories and provide the following benefits:

  • Wind, rain and dirt resistant
  • Excellent UV resistance
  • Proven efficiency: can reduce wind speed by up to 75%
  • Charcoal grey colour, polyester material with PVC coating
  • Fire resistant classification B-s2,d0 to EN 13501-1
  • Lightweight, strong and very durable: 1.25 kg/m² total weight including fixings
  • Approx. 380 g/m² weight of material
  • Operating temperature range of -30 °C to +70 °C.
  • Designed to withstand wind speeds: standard 90 mph, maximum 120 mph (53 m/s)
  • Shields can be rolled into bales for easy handling, shipping and storage.

The offshore fabric windshield provides maximum protection from extreme wind and weather conditions on oil and gas platforms, whilst maintaining a light and airy working environment.

Fabric Windshield Installation

Each windshield is custom designed and manufactured in the UK. Panels are able to span lengths of up to 9.1 metres, although an additional skirting feature means panels can be overlapped to form a complete protective wall with no limit for overall wind shield width.

Fabric shielding can often be installed quickly and simply to existing structures using a patented fixing system.
This helps to keep additional weight to a minimum and greatly reduces installation time and costs. Check this out in the video:

Fixings and Safety

The offshore fabric windshield either fixes to the existing structure, or may require a sub-frame, depending on the application. Fixing to a client built subframe adds typically 7.6 kg/m² in total for the subframe, material and fittings.

All fixings are stainless steel marine grade (316 standard) or galvanised and protective wraps and safety wires are also installed as necessary.

Single skin in construction, the PVC coated Polyester fabric shield features a patented built in tensioning system which means it is quick and easy to fit and tension.

Easy Connect Maintenance Shield

Easy Connect Maintenance Shield

Locker Heatshielding, in conjunction with our partners at Galebreaker, have developed a range of Heat and Wind shields which are aimed at the maintenance and short-term installation market.

Fixings and Safety

The shields incorporate a patented ratchet mechanism to tension panels in place. They are easily connected to existing platform steelwork, directly hooking to an aligned flange, using either Lindapter CF connection technology where a flange is perpendicular to the shield, or split clamp mechanisms for connecting to SHS.

Quick to install, the shields can be placed in any area where protection from radiant heat and adverse weather is required without the need for additional supporting steelwork. The Maintenance shield is supplied in standard lengths for installation in the majority of locations with additional extension pieces provided to extend the length as required. Extensions are attached using the ratchets on the rear which are then covered by flaps which are laced to the extensions to create a continuous shield.

On completion of the maintenance work the shields can easily be dismantled and stored away for the next scheduled work.
